Genus: Feijoa
Family: Myrtaceae
Appearance: Evergreen shrubs or small trees with downy green leaves with whitish colour beneath. Edible fruit.
Flowers: White and red edible flowers.
Features: Attractive flowers, fruit and foliage - good as a hedging plant.
Requirements: Fertile, moist, but well drained soils. Full sun. Tropical to temperate, adaptable.

Culture: Water well and fertilise 3-4 times a year. Propagate by cuttings.

Pest & Disease: Scale and sooty mould may be a problem. Fruit fly may be a problem for fruit quality.

Species & Varieties:

2 species, only one commonly grown including:

F. sellowiana (Pineapple Guava) -Source of commercial Fiejoa. Ornamental, medium shrub to 4m. Attractive red and white flowers. Deep green leaves with white undersides.
